we actually had our own mountain we lived on. we used to live in san francisco, and thot that the lifestyle of parties and drugs and drinking would most likely kill our relationship. So we traded in our car for a truck, made an adobe cabin, had a well drilled (hand pump), and had the relationship of our life. Last year, a few days before my birthday, i dreamed of him, and he said he had a present for me. A real one. A few months later, when i received the title to our land from his parents (family estate bullshit)- i noticed - it was signed over to me on my birthday. I sincerly beleive that was his gift. We looked at the sunset there, and knew that was the moment of our lives. We did not miss it. So when he passed, he had no regrets for having loved me. I know, he told me so. sorry for the stroll thru memory lane. the video just reminded me, is all. :)

These things do happen! One of my best friends decided when his last cocker spaniel died he wouldn't get any more. His lover who had passed always adored the dogs and was also the ONLY person allowed to acknowledge S___'s birthday. That year he woke up on his birthday to find a cocker spaniel tied to his porch post with a ragged rope. He went to every house with in six or eight blocks and nobody would claim it, or admit to having left it. The dog died a few years ago but he's kept two every since he got it that year. You and your partner were so fortunate to at least have those few years together.

i was honored for having experienced it. :) thank you.

the nicest thing tho- we knew what we had, WHILE we had it. no looking back to hope one had - we knew what we had every step of the way. So the memories, the sweet touches or looks, each were catalogued in my mind, each able to be remembered fondly. Sometimes it feels a cheat that it wasn't the other way round, but we take what life dishes out. And hopefully, become more for it.
